Psychological Assessment & Testing

Get the solutions

The underlying cause of a person's problems isn't always clear. For example, if an individual is having trouble in school:

  • Is he or she having a reading problem such as dyslexia?

  • Does he/she have attention problem such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

  • Difficulty with impulse control?

  • What is the diagnosis? Bipolar? Personality Disorder?

  • Is my child Gifted?

Psychological tests and assessments help to understand the nature of the problem, and figure out the best way to go about addressing it.  They also help rule out other factors that might be affecting an individual's functioning.

Dr. Alcalay incorporates a full battery of science-based psychological testing instruments to effectively provide a diagnosis, if applicable, and provides specific treatment recommendations.

Evidenced based treatment

Today’s teens are seen to be generally optimistic and happy; yet, they also tend to be less trusting, more sensitive, and more isolated from their families when compared to previous generations.  Our youth is spending about 7 hours per day in front of a screen as the digital era is upon us. Both children and adolescents, have been showing signs of increasing mental health issues. They exhibit emotional difficulties quite differently and require a specialized focus in order to reach their true potential.

Dr. Alcalay has extensive clinical experience in providing  scientifically-based treatments for children and adolescents. His advanced training at the Florida Psychoanalytic Center and his clinical research has excelled his treatment success. He utilizes child-centered play therapy for early childhood behavioral issues, and a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Developmental Psychology for adolescents.

Parenting Skills and Development

Increase cohesion in the family

We are not given a "handbook" on how to raise our children, therefore, knowing what to do or, better yet, what not to do is essential.  Parents through proper interaction can prevent many emotional disorders and can build the independency that a child needs to grow into adulthood.

Dr. Alcalay has conducted research on the current and most updated parenting approaches to tackle issues children face in this modern age.  His parenting techniques incorporate attachment building, social skills, self-esteem development, increasing initiative, and improving self-control.

When in danger, it’s natural to feel afraid.  This “fight-or-flight” response is a healthy reaction meant to protect a person from harm. But in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), this reaction is changed or damaged. People who have PTSD may feel stressed or frightened even when they’re no longer in danger.

Dr. Alcalay specializes in Trauma and utilizes E.M.D.R. (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing).  It has received a high level of recommendation by the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association. EMDR allows the mind and body to heal effectively from trauma.

Child Play Therapy

A Happier, Healthier Child

Play therapy refers to a range of methods of capitalising on children's natural urge to explore and harnessing it to meet and respond to the developmental and later also their mental health needs. It is also used for forensic or psychological assessment purposes where the individual is too young or too traumatized to give a verbal account of adverse, abusive or potentially criminal circumstances in their life.

Play therapy is extensively acknowledged by specialists as an effective intervention in complementing children's personal and inter-personal development. Play and play therapy are generally employed with children aged six months through late adolescence and young adulthood. They provide a contained way for them to express their experiences and feelings through an imaginative self-expressive process in the context of a trusted relationship with the care giver or therapist.  As children's and young people's experiences and knowledge are typically communicated through play, it is an essential vehicle for personality and social development.

Mindvybe

Get the solution you need

Mindvybe is a medication-free, non-invasive platform technologies for stimulating the vagus nerve (VNS) and returning the mind back to neurohomeostasis. Based on decades of peer-reviewed research in neurostimulation, this patented electroceutical technology challenge the status quo by offering a safe and viable option to the limitations, unintended consequences
and endless cycle of unhealthy, self-medicating behaviors and/or prescription drugs currently in use. In early 2023, the company is launching "mindvybe", a microcurrent, low-pulse product for the consumer wellness market.

Mindvybe is...

A wellness product that quickly alleviates feelings related to dis-ease and stress such as worry and frustration, brain fog, sleeplessness, pain and obsessive or racing thoughts. Safe and simple to use, mindvybe is the only product that combines multiple, sequenced points of stimulation to potentially induce feelings of wellness.

How does mindvybe work?

mindvybe sends micro-current electrical pulses on
the skin near the vagus nerve on the right ear, the
right side of the neck and on acupuncture points on the earlobes. The mild impulses create an 'action potential' among neurons that can inspire feelings of wellness.

What happens in a mindvybe session?
  • A patented earpiece rests like an ‘earbud’ on the right ear

  • Two earring-like clips are placed on each earlobe to access acupressure points

  • An 2-inch electro-therapy pad is placed on top of the skin near the vagus nerve on the right side of the neck

  • Using the mindvybe app, note your mood and press start

  • Sit and vybe-out for 25 minutes!

  • Within 3-5 sessions (25 min per session) most usersexperience feelings of calm, improved sleep, and enhanced mood

How & when do I use mindvybe?
  1. Use it to relax during times of stress

  2. Use it to settle the mind and create focus during an anxious episode or stressful performance event

  3. Use it to quiet the 'chatter' in the head

  4. Use it to inspire sleep or quell pain

  5. Use it to balance the body & the brain

  6. Use it when and as needed - there is no risk of over use!

Technical Specifications
  • Micro-pulse, aiuto-regulated, modulating current never exceeds 2mA

  • Only stimulating product where it is not necessary to manually adjust settings to avoid saturation; no risk of overuse

  • Mild stimulation via the ear balance brain chemistry to induce feelings of relaxation and calm earlobes may create a lasting effect.

  • Stimulation of acupuncture points on the earlobes may create a lasting effect.

  • Backed by decades of science reflecting how vagus nerve stimulation helps to balance neurohormones

Piloted on over 350 users with no side effects and few complaints. A majority of users noted a positive response within the first 3 sessions. Contact us today at info@within.health to learn how you can experience your own mindvybe effect!

The Highway to the "Happy Hormones"

  • The vagus nerve is the longest cranial nerve in the body, spanning from the brain to the stomach. Referred to as the ‘Gut-Brain Axis’, it not only regulates gut physiology but is also involved in controlling the cardiovascular, respiratory, immune and endocrine systems.

  • The vagus nerve provides a super-highway of afferent and efferent signaling that has been implicated in modulating mood and affect, including forms of anxiety and fear.

  • The vagus nerve helps to regulate the “Happy Hormones” or serotonin, betaendorphins, oxytocin, and GABA. When these hormones are in balance, wellness and well-being can be  increased and normalized. This is known as neuro-homeostasis, which leads to overall mind-body balance.

Mindvybe: The Science
  • The introduction of mild electrical pulses, or electrons, through the skin near the vagus nerve inspires a cascade of ionic activity.

  • The resulting “action potential” propagates to the surrounding nerves.

  • The action potential in a neuron innervates an endocrine cell, that in turn stimulates secretion of a stimulatory transmitter.

  • The endocrine cell secretes its hormone into the blood where it will travel to its target.

  • While the mechanism of action is not entirely known, it is believed that the ionic activity helps to balance neuro-peptides and neuro-hormones, inspiring feelings of well-being
