Dr. Edan M. Alcalay, Psy.D

Dr. Edan M Alcalay, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist who specializes in treating children and adolescents who are suffering from anxiety, mood disorders, suicide, and crisis management. His specialty training also provides him expertise in treating those who are victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, substance abuse, and trauma. Additionally, he helps children and adolescents who have bipolar disorder and/or suffer from psychosis. He collaborates with academic institutions and provides parenting skills workshops, as well as, psychoeducational lectures. He is adjunct faculty at Lynn University teaching clinical mental health counseling courses (LMHC) to the graduate class at the college of Arts and Science.
In addition to providing traditional psychotherapy and psychological testing, Dr. Alcalay is an E.M.D.R. (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapist which is used in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This treatment method has received a high level of recommendation by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the American Psychological Association. Furthermore, Dr. Alcalay is a member of the Association for Play Therapy (APT), United Way of Broward, and Florida Psychological Association (FPA). Dr. Alcalay also conducts research on modern topics such as: The Anxiety Explosion, The Digital Era and its Impact on our Youth, Project Brain (substance abuse prevention), and How Group Play can prevent mental disorders.
